25th Anniversary Celebration
2015 marks the Richmond Community Foundation’s 25th Anniversary. It’s a reason to celebrate, and so we are – with a bang! On December 1, at River Rock Casino Resort, we’re holding a fundraising dinner, with all proceeds supporting the work of the Foundation.
And what is that work, exactly? Well, we currently manage nearly 50 permanent endowment funds, together valued at over $3.7 million. That money is invested, so the funds continue growing, and the income earned – this is the best part – is used to support causes that matter to all of us: recreation, education, the environment, social services, arts and culture. Since 1990, we’ve awarded close to $1 million in grants and scholarships, so local organizations can deliver improved services (or create innovative new ones) and Richmond students can pursue their educational goals.
Every day, we work to establish new endowment funds, and to grow the funds we currently manage, all so we can issue more and larger grants and scholarships.
To that end, the Community Foundation has partnered with Volunteer Richmond Information Services to form Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives (RCRG). This new collaborative organization has one goal: to encourage and facilitate local philanthropy on a large scale. The end result will be a stronger, healthier, more resilient community, with a charitable sector that can meet the needs of all Richmond residents.
25 years on, the Community Foundation’s future looks bright, and our commitment to the community is stronger than it’s ever been. We promise that, like our endowment funds, it’s a commitment that will last forever.
For now, though, it’s time to celebrate, and we invite you to join us.
